...Reaffirms Dedication to Infrastructure Development
LAGOS – Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, has reaffirmed his government's strong dedication to infrastructure growth, support for rural areas, and environmental protection while visiting active erosion prevention and road construction initiatives in Ankpa Local Government Area of the state.
The initiative, carried out as part of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, has achieved impressive advancements, including the building of 21 culverts at four gully heads, 332 foot culverts, 417 vehicle slabs, and a 22-kilometer drainage network. Moreover, 11.5 kilometers of new roads have been finished, greatly enhancing access and security in the region.
The leader, during a speech to locals and involved parties in Ankpa, thanked the active support and collaboration provided by the contractors working on the initiative.
He characterized the soil conservation program as one of the most significant environmental projects ever carried out by the state administration.
I would like to genuinely express my gratitude to the kind people of Ankpa for the enthusiastic reception they have given me today, as well as for their strong support towards the contractors working on the Erosion Control Project and other active infrastructure developments within the Local Government Area. Your assistance has facilitated seamless progress, and we anticipate prompt completion.
"This initiative goes beyond just building infrastructure; it focuses on safety, environmental conservation, and long-term sustainability for the residents of Ankpa and nearby areas," he stated.
Ododo emphasized that the project's success could not have been achieved without the support from the local community, praising them for their solidarity and calm nature, which has facilitated the seamless implementation of the work.
I call on everyone to view these initiatives as their own. Guard them, keep an eye on them, and inform authorities about any abuse or vandalism. Public facilities need to be protected to benefit future generations. We are carrying out this project using a loan from the World Bank, which will be repaid over a certain period.
"Let's keep working together to create a unified Kogi State. Division weakens us, while unity enhances our voice, our advancement, and our capacity to draw in significant development," the Governor encouraged.
The State Governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his backing, recognizing the President's leadership as a crucial factor in fostering development at the local level.
His statement: “I would like to express my gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support and for establishing the favorable conditions that enable our states to fulfill our responsibilities. He is truly a catalyst for development and a leader suited for this critical period.”
Kogi State will remain committed to his visionary leadership, and we promise our complete backing for him in the 2027 elections.
He recognized the contribution of local chiefs, community figures, and young people in promoting harmony and backing government efforts in Ankpa.
"I also value the traditional leaders, community figures, and youth organizations in Ankpa for their significant contribution to preserving peace and backing government efforts. As one, we are creating a New Kogi, a state where development is not just a promise, but something tangible and real," he assured.
The visit for inspection signifies a significant achievement in the Ododo administration's dedication to environmental sustainability, rural progress, and equitable leadership throughout Kogi State.
