A Mother’s Struggle for Involvement in Her Daughter’s Career

Katie Price, a well-known figure in the world of reality television, has opened up about her feelings of exclusion from her daughter Princess's new TV show. The revelation came during an episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, titled The Truth Behind The Princess Diaries. In this episode, she spoke candidly with her sister, Sophie Price, about the upcoming ITV2 series that will focus on Princess's life and career.

Princess, who was raised by Katie and her ex-husband Peter Andre, is set to be the central figure in the show. However, Katie revealed that she has been deliberately kept out of the production, as it is not deemed beneficial for Princess's brand image.

“I want the best for Junior and Princess, and I would never get in the way of it,” Katie said in the latest episode. “But what hurts my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you’re involved in everything they do.”

She continued, reflecting on how her own career has influenced Princess's path. “And knowing that, what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I’ve done, which I absolutely love and adore about Princess.”

However, Katie expressed concerns that her absence is putting Princess in an awkward position. She mentioned that she has not been allowed to participate in photo shoots, signings, or events such as Superdrug openings. “Why? Because I’m not allowed and I’m not welcome. And it puts Princess in a situation because I don’t want her to feel she has to choose between me and her work because I want her to do well.”

Katie emphasized that she wants to support her daughter, just as her own family supported her. “I have said to Princess, just see how it feels for me because I should be there supporting you, I want to be there to support you like my family did. And I’m your mum, and especially as you’re doing stuff that I did, I’m proud of you and want to be there.”

She added that the decision to exclude her was made by her ex-husband and the management team. “Unfortunately, the management team and Pete won’t allow me to be near here. They have made it clear, they won’t allow Princess to do photoshoots with me, they won’t allow me to go to any events with Princess – because they think I am trash basically.”

Katie finds it insulting that her long-standing career in the industry is being disregarded. “Everyone knows she’s my daughter. So what difference does it make? Like if it wasn’t for me or Pete, Princess and Junior wouldn’t be known anyway. And I find it an insult as I’ve been in the industry for 30 years.”

She believes that no one is better suited to guide Princess through her journey than herself. The show, The Princess Diaries, will follow Princess as she navigates her career as an influencer and her brand deals with Morphe and Superdrug. The cameras have been following her for some time, capturing moments behind the spotlight.

Princess has been living with her father Peter and his wife Emily for several years, and she turned 18 in June this year. While the details of the show are still unfolding, fans are eager to see how Princess will handle her growing fame.

The first episode of The Princess Diaries is scheduled to air on Sunday, August 10 at 9pm on ITV2.
