Woman abroad reveals funds sent to Nigeria since 2022

  • A woman abroad was shocked upon discovering the total sum she has sent to individuals in Nigeria since 2022.
  • As per the woman, she chose to review her Lemfi application, a tool designed for cross-border fund transfers, and converted the figure she observed using the latest exchange rate.
  • She revealed that the funds represent the sum of the small amounts she provided to people back home, as well as those she loaned money to.

A Nigerian woman living abroad, Chisom Chigbo, has revealed the entire sum she has transferred to individuals in Nigeria since 2022.

Chisom reviewed her Lemfi application and was shocked to discover she had transferred a total of £12,264 (more than N25.2 million).

Chisom mentioned that she converted the sum using the latest exchange rate. As per Chisom, the funds came from the small amount she helped people back home with and the money she had loaned out.

She humorously labeled herself as the offshore branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). She thinks other members of the diaspora who check their apps would be surprised, just like she was. She wrote:

So I casually looked at the app I use to transfer money back to Nigeria, and when I saw the total amount I've sent since 2022, I was shocked. 😩
I converted it using today's exchange rate and it's approximately ₦25.2 million naira. 😳
"Yes. You heard that correctly.
All from 'urgent 10k', 'send me a small item', 'just help me with this one, I'll pay back'.
…And the ones that didn't even have an explanation 😭.
Interestingly, I saw someone share that theirs was ₦13 million and I said, "I just want to check mine out of curiosity..."
"See where my curiosity has taken me 😩.
"God abeg o!
Then open the ministry of foreign remittance remains.
At this stage, I'm not back abroad, I'm an overseas branch of CBN 😭.
I am aware that most people will be surprised, just like me, if they examine theirs too.

I'm certain you forgot to add the giveaway to the list 😜.
It can be concerning at times when we review our expenses and find ourselves questioning how we ended up with so much.
"God is good."

Which one corresponds to $25.2 million? Some individuals might be confused upon seeing the number.
Send me 800,000 naira quickly to complete the amount. This will avoid any confusion.
