Musician Don Spike, who faced arrest on drug-related charges, shared updates about his current circumstances.
Don Spike joined JTBC's YouTube channel 'Genre Yeouido' on the 24th.
In this broadcast, Don Spike is undergoing treatment. He is residing with his family and participating in addiction rehabilitation known as 'NA'. Those present share their experiences, offering helpful advice because they are determined to overcome drug addiction. The pain that only those who have gone through this can understand proves to be encouraging, as it inspires those around them. "This was last done in September 2022. It has been three years, but honestly, I feel it's like a magnet. He was already a self-indulgent person who had used drugs. The pull remains within me and hasn't faded," he explained.
Then, "I believe I can handle this through my willpower, without creating such an environment in the first place, just like how metal doesn't fall when it's attached to a magnet, but by staying far away from it. I want to protect myself. It's not about being strong-willed, but you can't simply cut it off with willpower like the idea of a disease." I'm in my late 40s, but I feel as if I've been reset. All the achievements I've made have vanished. If there's anything I've gained from this situation, I think "(drugs) have lived. At that time, if I hadn't been arrested and kept using the drug, I would have died, and I think about my family."
Additionally, Don Spike said, "I believe many people are still uneasy about seeing me on the screen. I apologize for creating a commotion."
In September 2022, Don Spike was taken into custody on allegations of possessing and using methamphetamine at a hotel located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He faced accusations of purchasing methamphetamine valued at 45 million won on nine separate occasions between the end of 2021 and the end of the following year, and using the drug 14 times. During the initial trial, Don Spike acknowledged all the charges, leading the court to sentence him to three years in prison along with five years of probation in January 2023. The judgment also included 120 hours of probation and community service, 80 hours of drug education sessions, and a fine of approximately 39.85 million won.
