The leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has, on behalf of its teeming supporters, extended its sadness over the death of Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 28, 2025, and signed by the Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC said they are in disbelief over the death of the Ghanaian highlife legend.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia wrote in the statement that Daddy Lumba belonged to a class of Ghanaian musicians who transcended every barrier and was loved and admired by all Ghanaians.
He noted that Daddy Lumba's death was yet another sad reminder of the unpredictability of life and death, and the merciless way it claims both the bright and the beautiful, the young and the old.
Mr Asiedu Nketia further offered the most heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended family of the late highly distinguished ambassador of Ghanaian music, on behalf of the NDC.
He added that as the family and friends prepared to give him a befitting burial, the NDC stands ready to offer comfort and assistance during the painful period.
"Daddy Lumba belonged to that class of Ghanaian musicians who transcended every barrier and was loved and admired by each and every one of his fellow citizens. His death is yet another sad testament of the unpredictability of life and death, and the merciless manner in which it claims the bright and the beautiful and the young and the old," Mr Asiedu Nketia wrote.
"I am, by this statement, on behalf of the NDC, offering the most heartfelt condolences to the immediate and distant family of the late highly distinguished ambassador of Ghanaian music. As the family and friends prepare to give him a befitting burial, the NDC party stands ready to be of comfort and assistance to the family as they go through this painful experience. May the soul of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, aka Daddy Lumba, find eternal rest and peace in the bosom of the Almighty God," he added.

Daddy Lumba reported death on Saturday
The renowned Ghanaian musician Charles Kojo Fosu passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
His family’s legal representative released a statement confirming the highlife icon’s death.
The statement added that details of the funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
According to Graphiconline, Daddy Lumba died at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he had been admitted for an undisclosed illness.

Earlier, zaia news.gh reported that Daddy Lumba's manager, Philip Kwabena Agyeman, affectionately known as Roman Fada, came forward to shed light on the highlife veteran's funeral arrangements in a video that quickly went viral.
In a statement posted by Citi FM, Roman Fada said that the Presidency had assured Daddy Lumba's family of a dignified and fitting funeral, reflecting his monumental contributions to the music industry.
Social media users have commented on the comments by Daddy Lumba's manager about his funeral service.
