The Ghana-based Institute of Executive Studies (IES) has effectively arranged for Charlia Kweh, a student in the eighth grade at Delhi Public School International (DPSI), together with 11 other students from various parts of Ghana, to travel to Toronto, Canada, in order to join a renowned 'Global Summer Camp.'

The team left Ghana on July 26, 2025, heading to Upper Canada College (UCC), the organizing school for this year's camp, and arrived on Sunday, July 27.

A three-week summer camp unites around 150 young students from 14 different nations, such as the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and Malaysia, providing a special opportunity for international learning and cultural exchange.

In the last 13 years, IES Ghana has built a solid reputation for arranging international educational programs, especially summer camps in Canada, where they have brought hundreds of students, offering them life-changing, globally connected, and culturally enriching experiences.

Situated only 20 minutes away from Toronto Pearson International Airport and near several of the city's top tourist sites, Upper Canada College offers a perfect environment for a varied and rewarding experience.

The camp provides an energetic mix of academic and non-academic pursuits, such as theater arts, English classes, debate and public speaking, financial education, robotics, coding, computer programming, gaming, visual arts, and leadership training.

Moreover, students engage in a variety of sports including hockey, soccer, golf, baseball, and basketball. The program also includes cultural trips to famous locations such as the CN Tower, Niagara Falls, the Royal Ontario Museum, Ripley’s Aquarium, and Centre Island.

Charlia is a child molded by principles that value the dignity of the community: solidarity, respect, empathy, and a deep sense of responsibility. She was born in Ghana to Liberian parents and started her early education at Excel Community School in Spintex, Accra.

Speaking with the media at Kotoka International Airport prior to her departure, Charlia expressed her hope that the UCC summer camp would significantly enhance her public speaking abilities and increase her self-assurance.

She mentioned that the summer camp will give her the opportunity to learn about different cultures from across the globe; connect with other students, which she thinks will have a lasting beneficial effect on her life.

An IES Ghana Customer Service and Marketing Officer, Anne Appiah, stated to the media that the summer camp aims to positively influence the lives of children from Ghana and international participants.

She advised parents in Ghana who wish to send their children to summer camp in Canada to contact IES Ghana and enroll their kids in the upcoming summer and winter camps in Canada.

About IES Summer Camps

IES Ghana Summer Camps are intended for children aged 8 to 16. The camp is split into three categories: Juniors (ages 8–11), Intermediates (ages 12–13) and Leadership (ages 14–16). Each category has a customized schedule that focuses on improving abilities in outdoor activities, group work and cooperation, physical health, creative projects, and interpersonal communication.

Participants in the Junior and Intermediate groups choose three or four distinct day camps from a variety of choices throughout the three-week session.

The camp provides young teenagers in the Leadership group with academic and hands-on training in leadership, along with chances for personal development and future roles as camp counselors.
