A movie hailed as 'a triumph' and 'a relentless force' by reviewers is now accessible for streaming onAmazon Prime Video.

Starring Tom Hardy, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom, and Jason Isaacs, among others, Black Hawk Down was launched in 2001 and is now considered one of the 'best' war movies ever created.

An extremely thrilling action movie is inspired by the tale of the Black Hawk helicopter that was brought down during the Battle of Mogadishu.

It observed US troops trying to overthrow Somali National Alliance (SNA) leader Mohammed Farah Aidid by apprehending some of his key associates.

Nevertheless, the operation encountered serious difficulties when two of the US' Black Hawk helicopters were hit, leading to a fierce confrontation between American troops and the Somalis.

Also referred to today as the Black Hawk Down Incident, the conflict resulted in the deaths of at least 18 Americans and approximately 200 Somalis, with numerous others injured.

A summary of the movie's plot states: 'The tale of 160 top US soldiers who were deployed into Mogadishu in October 1993 with the aim of capturing two senior officials of a rogue warlord, only to encounter a fierce confrontation with a well-armed group of Somalis.'

It won two Oscars for best editing and best sound, and earned a solid $173 million (£129m), despite a high budget of $92 million (£69m).

In the meantime, critics have consistently praised the directorRidley Scottfor seizing 'dominant' imagery and crafting a 'persuasive narrative' of real occurrences.

On the review site Rotten Tomatoes, Black Hawk Down holds a 76% rating from critics and 88% from viewers, figures that are certainly not to be dismissed.

Sharing their perspective, Keith Garlington from Keith & the Movies states: 'Black Hawk Down is a powerful, raw experience. It shifts from intense action to profoundly emotional moments in an instant. Yet, it always remains centered on its primary subject – the soldiers.'

"Black Hawk Down conveys this message without being preachy, using sharp and unflinching visuals. For this reason, it belongs on the extremely short list of movies about war that are truly unforgettable," said Time Magazine's Richard Schickel.

They also argue that the movie "only shows a tiny portion of the soldiers who participated," whereas in fact, "450 men were sent to Somalia as part of Task Force Ranger for Operation Gothic Serpent."

It's fair to say that although fans of Black Hawk Down praise it endlessly, there are others who simply don't connect with it.

Nevertheless, the discussion continues more than 30 years on, and it also contributed to launching the career of the currently renowned, award-winning actor Hardy, as this was his initial role.
