Student Cleaning School to Raise Exam Fees at Risk of Missing Tests

  • A student might be required to transport her books and belongings, with no possibility of entering a classroom again until she settles her financial responsibilities.
  • The school official mentioned that the young woman has remained at the educational facility longer than anticipated.
  • Their tolerance is diminishing, and although they are a diligent and talented student, they might have to face a decision that could alter their life.

The academic path of a young, talented, and diligent woman from Nyambogo village, Masimba, within the Nyaribari Masaba constituency of Kisii county, is at risk.

Stella Nyaboke Mokua has encountered a difficult path in her education, primarily because of financial constraints.

The persistent young woman has been enrolled at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kapkatet Campus for longer than anticipated.

What is the amount of Nyaboke's outstanding fees?

Nyaboke has been associated with the institution for seven years despite facing challenges with tuition costs.

I am scheduled to begin my exams on Monday, July 21, 2025. Nevertheless, I owe KSh 163,700 in fees, which I believe I won't be able to gather in time. I have only one month left as a KMTC student. I don't have any relatives who can assist me. I face many challenges, but God has supported me up to this point," she mentioned.

Nyaboke's parents passed away nine years back, leaving her without a reliable support network, which has significantly impacted her schooling.

She is now in danger of being removed if she doesn't gather the necessary funds within a few days.

A teacher at Nyaboke's school discusses the condition of her student.

Supporters had first brought her to school, vowing to assist her until she finished her education. But they eventually went back on their word, leaving Nyaboke in a difficult situation.

A teacher from Nyaboke praised her and encouraged supporters to assist the hardworking young woman.

Nyaboke is an intelligent student, yet the absence of school fees keeps her at home for most of the time. We hope that, with the support of kind-hearted individuals, she will take her exams this time.
Moreover, Nyaboke cleans the school hall and takes care of the school garden to generate funds for her daily expenses. At times, she also washes dishes at the school cafeteria to earn a little extra income," the teacher mentioned.
