Jamie Lee Curtis Steps Back from Hollywood

Jamie Lee Curtisshe is aware she will depart from Hollywood, having already begun her 'self-retirement'.

The 66-year-old Hollywood actress is the daughter of two film legends.Psycho star Janet Leighand Tony Curtis from Some Like it Hot.

She expressed her honest opinion on how the film industry has affected her following her viewing ofboth her parentsbattle with their professions as their youthful appearance started to diminish.

"I saw my parents lose the very thing that brought them fame, life, and income when the industry turned its back on them at a certain age. I watched them achieve remarkable success, only to see it gradually fade until it was completely gone," she said. The Guardian.

‘And that’s very painful.’

The impact of that has left a long-term influence on the actor from True Lies and A Fish Called Wanda, who stated that, as a result: 'I have been voluntarily stepping back for 30 years.'

I've been preparing to escape, so I don't have to endure what my family went through. I want to exit the group before I'm no longer welcome.

Curtis, who became well-known at the age of 19 because of her part in the horror movie Halloween (1978), is now experiencing a resurgence in her career, having earned her first Academy Award in 2023 for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

She was also nominated for a Bafta in the best supporting actress category earlier this year due toher turn with Pamela Andersonas a cocktail waitress Annette in The Last Showgirl, while she recently won an Emmy for her guest appearance onTV show The Bear, portraying alcoholic Donna Berzatto.

The actress is fully aware that her popularity has increased, as she refers to the process of portraying Donna as 'the release of 50 years of being an artist who was never seen as having much versatility'.

"It had no effect. The cost has been 40 years of suppressing something I know is present," she added.

Curtis will return to theaters in August as Tess Coleman, the mother ofLindsay Lohan's Anna, who experienced a body swap with her daughter in the classicY2K movie from 2003.

In the sequel, Anna has her own teenage daughter, Harper (Julia Butters), and the exchange involves four people, including Harper's rival Lily (Sophia Hammons) – who is now occupying the body of the elderly Tess.

She also verifies that she was the one who advocated for the creation of Freakier Friday with Disney CEO Bob Iger, following persistent inquiries from fans during her promotion of the highly successful 2018 Halloween remake.

The star humorously refers to herself as "a weapon of mass promotion," but she was also the one who persuaded Disney's executives to make sure that Freakier Friday wasn't just released online, but also had a proper theatrical release.

Her point? As Curtis recounts, "if you believe the viewers of Barbie won't be the same ones who watch Freakier Friday, you're mistaken."
