Girlguides have updated their Hostess badge to a new version.genderneutral makeover, renaming it Celebrations.
The introduction of 72 new symbols has been launched as part of a significant upgrade initiative that aims to reflect 'contemporary living in the 21st century'.
Hostess badges originated in the 1960s and were typically given to someone who invited a friend over and offered them a cup of tea.
These initiatives were later broadened in 2009 to incorporate organizing events, allowing girls at the Brownie level to develop skills in event coordination.
The emblem was completely discontinued in 2018, but a renewed version has recently made a comeback following widespread interest.
'Celebrations' will acknowledge young individuals who explore and organize events, uniting others to 'create numerous joyful memories'.
The updated badges were launched following consultations with over 20,000 girls and volunteers, and will be distributed to girls aged four to 18 within Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers.
Girls will now receive recognition for getting a good night's sleep, evaluating food, exploring a new hobby, and organizing a trip, along with abilities such as mechanics and studying insects, as well as hosting gatherings.
TV host and commentator Angellica Bell, who has become an ambassador to support the initiative's debut, expressed her desire to inspire girls to overcome the obstacles they encounter while having fun.
The insignia — awarded to girls who finish a specific challenge to display on their attire — are categorized into areas that promote health, self-awareness, education, and exploration, among other aspects.
Over 4,000 unique badge concept proposals were provided by girls and helpers, with 11,000 girls from 753 Girlguiding groups throughout the UK participating in their evaluation.
The changes came as a result of suggestions to enhance the program by offering more options and incorporating activities aimed at 'supporting the environment,' 'boosting self-assurance,' and discussing 'passions' and 'fan communities.'
Various badges can be earned by different age groups, including interest-based badges, skill-developing badges, and activities related to unit meetings.
The youngest, Rainbows, can qualify for the 'bee rescuer' badge by supporting the environment or by discovering and sharing their 'guiding sparkle' and their reasons for loving Girlguiding.
Individuals can obtain a 'thrift' badge by modifying, reusing, and recycling items.
Ms. Bell stated, "It was a great experience testing the new badges with Girlguiding members."

The badge initiatives were created in collaboration with Girlguiding's youth panel Amplify, consisting of 30 girls aged 12 to 18, along with seven partners such as The Royal Horticultural Society, which contributed to the Rangers' gardening badge, the Children's Book Project, which assisted with the Guides' bookworm badge, Bletchley Park, which supported the Guides' codebreaking badge, and the Wellbeing of Women charity, which helped develop the Rangers' "my health" badge.
