Charlene claimed that Ochora used her name improperly by authoring the book without obtaining her consent first.
The young individual was taken into custody and faced charges of deception regarding the book.
On Monday, July 28, Charlene released a statement regarding the matter, disclosing her choice to pardon Ochora following sincere pleas from the accused.

She mentioned that she had abandoned the legal proceeding and intended to handle it outside of the courtroom.
"During the last few weeks, I have been continuously approached by Webster Ochora Elijah through my legal representatives. His words and the genuine nature of his appeals have had a deep impact on me. I feel that accepting responsibility and being accountable for one's actions is not a sign of vulnerability. It is a powerful expression of courage and integrity. As a youth advocate and someone who strongly supports constructive communication and responsible leadership, I have decided to offer forgiveness. I have also agreed to seek an alternative method of resolving the dispute outside of court," she said.
Charlene explained that she chose to take legal action against the young man in order to safeguard her reputation and to serve as a warning to others.
This situation was never solely about me, nor was it exclusively concerning the young individual involved. It was about a larger problem emerging in our society that we can no longer overlook: the increasing acceptance of online aggression, slander, and the reckless damage to reputations, all magnified by the internet's wide influence and the anonymity it provides.
What caused Charlene Ruto to take legal action against Ochora Elijah?
When I pursued legal action, it wasn't just about safeguarding my own reputation. It was about advocating for the numerous individuals, particularly young people, who endure online harassment in silence, without a voice or a path to seek justice. These are people whose careers have been harmed, whose mental well-being has been affected, and whose dignity has been undermined through deliberate digital attacks," she added.
The president's daughter also stated that being in the spotlight does not justify treating anyone without fairness and should never result in someone losing their right to security, honesty, confidentiality, or dignity.
"Being in a public position does not diminish our humanity. It's time for us to reinvent our digital culture. Online defamation, trolling, hate attacks, and cancellation efforts are not activism. They constitute a type of violence," she added.
The issue is set to be addressed in court on August 19, 2025, with both sides anticipated to officially document a shared agreement.
